The video “How Art Can Help You To Analyze” shows how art appreciation can have real world applications. The video states that art can teach how “to study thoroughly, analyze the elements observed and articulate them succinctly, formulate questions to address the seeming inconsistencies”. I chose to analyze that video through rhetoric, depth and logic.
The video conveys rhetoric by using logos and ethos to explain the value of analyzing art. For logos it gives clear reasons as to how studying art can give skills in different fields such as medicine or police-work. Ethos is used in showing how to make those fields effective, we want these professionals to be observant and questions to ask. I have decided not to include Pathos because the video did not make an emotional argument. In other words, they need to have “eyes training”.
The video has depth by going into detail explaining how art appreciation teaches you to to study thoroughly, analyze the elements observed and articulate them succinctly, formulate questions to address the seeming inconsistencies. The video goes beyond just listing these topics by going into detail addressing the usefulness of each one. The video takes the time to back up the reasons by providing unique scenarios where only those with that perspective are able to see them.
Watching “How Art Can Help You To Analyze” it was possible to identify a strong logical structure. Each concept was clearly related and they were able to flow from a topic to another. It was able to describe situations where the elements of analyzing art could be used. The video has a racional line of thought without wild jumps to each point.
In conclusion, the video was able to show rhetoric through Logos and Ethos, depth through detailed examples and logic through structure. It was really helpful and it gives good advice about how to appreciate art.
