The video “How art can help you analyze” by Amy E. Herman argues that how art helps us to improve analytical and communication skills. In addition, it is necessary for many careers to improve their communication and analytical skills. I think this video meets many standers of intellectual quality such as accuracy, depth, significance, and logic, by providing examples of careers that need those skills. This video gives us a significant definition of visual skills that enable us to interpret what we are seeing to others. Not only artists need visual skills but also many jobs need to have those skills such as doctors, nurses, and police officers. For example, doctors ask their patients to check them with Xray or use the visual tools to translate them into their illness situations. Based on the visual tools, Doctors are being accuracy when they give their patients their treatment and prescription. Visual tools and analytical skills are important, to show you a depth of details, for example, law enforcement career needs people who have those skills to analyze the details and finding the truth through the visual evidence and analyze the and look deeply to know who commits the crime and find the criminal. Those careers use logic to based their results. Visual pieces of evidence such as the face, drawing, appearance how the crime committed to lead the police officer to know who commit the crime. that is the logic process. Police officers are being accurate with criminal cases, they use each detail to know the criminal. Communication and analytical skills are required in our reality to communicate with others and their thoughts. I thing image has power than words. As a common person, you can put a painting or image in your home attach to your life theme or describe what you feel deeply, that after you analyze this painting in-depth and find painting theme.

Why Art Matters (Blog #1)
Clarity, breadth and significance are the three intellectual standards showed in Why Art Matters clearly. In this video, the producer indicated that there are many arts display as different forms around us . Like what the video said, art is not only at museums ,but also exists everywhere. It could be on a building, a park ,a wall , even on the road you step right now.One of a narrators in the video also pointed out sometimes we need to stop and observe so that we can find those wonderful arts around us .
The reason why I think breadth is showed in this video is because the producer covered many aspects that how art has affected our life mentally and physically. As technology grows stronger and stronger,we have many opportunities to get in touch with visual images no matter with what device. The video also revealed that art is really close to us even though in our real life . For example,we can often see street graffiti or street music on the way home , that’s also art. Besides, the last narrator implied the key point to find art is not about art itself. having eyes of finding art is more important .
As for the significance of art,the video stated that if we can spend time in looking a little deeper at something ,we might notice many details we didn’t aware before. We can apply this skill in so many fields in life aside from art, which can make us think deeper and further.

Intellectual standards of quality
In English compositions the quality of the content is very important. A writer has to have clear ideas of what they want to say and be able to organize the ideas in a way that make sense for the reader. The example provided in the book allow us to have an idea of what we should not do when writing a composition. “The sun, as he was surfing, sparkled on the water.” like the author explained, this sentence sounds like the sun is surfing but it is actually a person. The reader would not have a clear idea of what the writer wants to say and may start thinking ideas different than what the writer actually meant.
Punctuation is also essential on English writing. One point or a comma can change the whole meaning of what the writer wants to say. If a person writes in a book “Let’s eat Grandma” the reader will automatically think that they are actually eating their grandma. The book can be about a happy family but because of the missing punctuation the reader will start think about cannibals which has nothing to do with the writer’s intentions.
Every book should make sense to the reader. The way the writer organize their ideas sometimes can be a challenge. The order a writer place their ideas can also change the whole meaning of the book or not to make sense at all. A reader should not stop their reading to ask themselves “wait, what” this means that one or some of the ideas or examples are not properly organize.
In the Power to Look
In the video “In the Power to Look” is part of the Art Institute of Chicago’s Art Explainer series, it illustrates that looking closely is one of the best tools to observe at the world. People can discover many details through careful observation and understand the true meaning of the work and understand what these artworks want to tell us. The video includes “American Gothic” by Grant Wood; “Yoruba Crown” from Nigeria; “Paris Street Rainy Day” by Gustave Caillebotte and “Untitled #92” by Cindy Sherman. There are four different methods which are standards of intellectual quality. They are clarity, breadth, depth, and relevance.
In the “Yoruba Crown” from Nigeria, the presenter use clarity that one of the standards of intellectual quality illustrates the true consciousness represented by some details of the crown, such as birds representing women, real eyes in front and back, etc. By observing these details, people can understand this crown clearly and simply. In addition, in the “ Paris Street Rainy Day” by Gustave Caillebotte in 1877, the relevant information allows us to connect this work with the social background, and I know that the author used the camera and some painting skills when creating, so that the page allows people to know the higher educational background of the painter because I do not think all people can use camera in 18s. Moreover, I think breadth and depth always relate together, the “Untitled #92” by Cindy Sherman expresses that the painting is very clear. The eyes in the painting intuitively show some ignorant details, but the fear diffuses from the eyes, triggering the association of the audience’s depth and breadth.
Therefore, the standards of intellectual quality are very significant because people author depend on it to convey some information accurately and audiences can rely on these to expand and develop deeper understand.
How art Can help you analyze blog post
The three categories of Intellectual Standard that is shown in this video are depth, logic and accuracy. It showed in detail how art can help in everything. It can conjure strong emotions and deep thoughts, or simply dazzle us with its visual brilliance. Everyone’s reaction to art may be different, but its ability to impact us is unquestioned. Depth can mean the distance between the closest and farthest objects in a photo that appears acceptably sharp. What’s more, it can mean depth in thinking. Whenever you look at an art or a portrait you have to spend some time analyzing this piece of art as you are able to stimulate both unconscious and conscious brain functions. We’re able to recognize depth in this video as you look at Rene Magritte’s “Time Transfixed” you find out that there is a train whose origin and destination aren’t recognized which is emerging from the fireplace and the smoke from the locomotive appears to flow up the chimney. Where is the fire? What happened to the candles? Understanding how to look at art lets you make the most out of the experience by keeping your brain active and involved. This can be done by thinking about the piece, what it represents and what it says about the artist. The second thing we can figure out is logic. Each time you look at a piece of art, your brain is working to make sense of the visual information it’s receiving. From highly lifelike portraits to abstract collections of rectangles, looking at art stimulates the brain and puts our innate knack for organizing patterns and making sense of shapes to use. Lastly, accuracy is the last factor we’ll find in this video. It’s accurate that art can affect the human brain. Viewing, analyzing, and creating art stimulates the brain in substantial and long-lasting ways. Each time you look at a piece of art, your brain is working to make sense of the visual information it’s receiving. From highly lifelike portraits to abstract collections of rectangles, looking at art stimulates the brain and puts our innate knack for organizing patterns and making sense of shapes to use. Beyond the brain’s skill at making sense of what we’re seeing, the brain actually goes through changes when we look at a beautiful art piece.
The Intellectual Standards of Quality in The Power to Look
In The Power to Look the producer successfully exhibits clarity, breadth and relevance. The narrator exhibits clarity by very clearly explaining the importance of the visual qualities of artwork. She explains in a concise and understandable way how visual stimulation in art communicate the symbolism in art. The Yoruba crown has symbolic meanings that explain the artist use of a veil, the birds and the two faces on the front and back. The narrator clearly explains how this visual symbolism is interpreted. The video distinctly follows her narration to express her view point.
The producer also uses a wide breadth to explain the importance of visual stimulation and symbolism. She uses 4 very different media of art including photography, paintings and an African crown. She contrasts the different styles of art while showing that they all attain a certain significant context that can be visually observed. The life sized painting, Paris Street; Rainy Day displays the importance of social class separation in the late 19 century Paris, while Cindy Sheman’s photography displays a critical view of 1960’s and 70’s film.
The narrator also remains relevant throughout the video. She describes the various artworks while the pictures are all consistent with her narration. She explains the characteristics of each piece of art in a way that ties them all together. She does not stray off of her point and uses the artwork shown in the video to direct our attention to the important specifics of each artwork. The video uses a close-up shot of American Gothic to explain the importance of details such as the subject’s facial expression and what they may be looking at off the canvas.
The producer of the video uses the standards of quality very well to make a well thought out video that clearly explains the importance of visual observation in art. It is done with a large breadth that uses different styles of art as evidence of that importance. It is made with consistent relevance through out the video keeping the viewer interested and focused on the point trying to be made.
The power to look by art Institute of Chicago
The tree categories of Intellectual Standard that I guessed mach this video are : depth , significance and fairness. It showed every little details on all 3 different art which are connected with one main idea: to reveal a history .Yoruba Crown from Nigeria , west Africa , Gustave Caillebotte , Paris Street ; Rainy Day and Cindy Sherman , Untitled # 92 .
The Yoruba Crown which describes how some king of Africa is so powerful, the video showed us every details that is attached to the story of the crown and it was meaningful .It gives a deep sense to the viewer to realise exactly what the sculpture was about .
looking at people well suite in the street and others working class on the background describes how the modern life was in the end of 19s centuries . Even if it looks like normal , there is a complex ideology of the life style of those people. And the paint art can tell us .
Ms Sherman in Untitled film still #92 showed how somebody at the same time could be part of its creativity. She was the one who direct her casting and play female roles in the movie also.
In addition all those tree description have one objective which is to tell a story . And those stories were been told in every details which give the topic a significant sense with a profound explanation .
