D.Q2 – 2

With the invention of a camera we are able to see things that are happening or happened some place else. The camera allows us to see art but it gives us a different point of view of a painting. For example, it is not the same to see art in the gallery then to see a recording of the paintings in the internet. The same happens when we see examples of paintings on books, we just see an image but we do not interpret the image as we should. Art is a way of expression for artist and if we are not able to see and analyze an authentic painting than the artist work was in vain.

D.Q2 – 1

John Berger argues that the way we see art depend in our habits and conventions. Not everyone has the same thoughts when see art, some people may see some details that others won’t see. Now this is how habits influence in the way we see painting. For example, Berger presented some art to explain how a different perspective can change the meaning on a painting. If I go to the museum to see painting, The virgin of the rocks by Leonardo Da Vinci, in the original painting I will be able to see every single detail in the picture because it is located in its original place. But if I get a copy of this painting not all the details will be included neither its authenticity. also the environment will change the whole meaning of the image.

Intellectual standards of quality

In English compositions the quality of the content is very important. A writer has to have clear ideas of what they want to say and be able to organize the ideas in a way that make sense for the reader. The example provided in the book allow us to have an idea of what we should not do when writing a composition. “The sun, as he was surfing, sparkled on the water.” like the author explained, this sentence sounds like the sun is surfing but it is actually a person. The reader would not have a clear idea of what the writer wants to say and may start thinking ideas different than what the writer actually meant.

Punctuation is also essential on English writing. One point or a comma can change the whole meaning of what the writer wants to say. If a person writes in a book “Let’s eat Grandma” the reader will automatically think that they are actually eating their grandma. The book can be about a happy family but because of the missing punctuation the reader will start think about cannibals which has nothing to do with the writer’s intentions.

Every book should make sense to the reader. The way the writer organize their ideas sometimes can be a challenge. The order a writer place their ideas can also change the whole meaning of the book or not to make sense at all. A reader should not stop their reading to ask themselves “wait, what” this means that one or some of the ideas or examples are not properly organize.

How can art help you analize?

How can art help you analyze? In today’s society people do not give much importance to art. most people have art in their house or apartment just for decoration. But what if that painting that you have hanging in your living room has a story to tell? Analyzing is a very important skill for most careers/professions. As described in the video it can help to save lives either you are a doctor, police officer, teacher, etc. By simply looking at an art people are able to learn and see the authors point of view but sometimes you have to focus on it. I think that a painting is the reflex of the author’s feeling or mood. Art is a way to communicate to others and explain what words can not say. If a person is able to interpret the art language, most likely they will be able to analyze a crime scene (in the case of a police officer) or a patient illness by just looking at the visual symptoms (if it’s a Doctor). Also, body language is very important, a teacher for example can have an idea if a student is going through a situation in their lives. But all this can only be possible if you are able to “analyze” the situation and by analyzing art paintings is a very good way to learn this skills.
